Architectural drawings, [ca. 1890- ca. 1910]

Consists of thirty-seven pen and ink drawings showing plans for a library (7) and a school (30). Floor plans, perspectives of building exteriors, and sectional views are featured. Two sets of floor plans illustrate possible layouts for a library with eight rooms. Five possible floor plans are given for the school. In each set the arrangement of rooms on each of three floors is varied. Perspective drawings show the impact of changes on the exterior of the school.

Franklin I. Welch was an architect in Boston and Malden, Ma. Born and educated in Malden, he was in business for himself in Boston for many years. A practicing Christian Scientist, he drew plans for the original Christian Science Church in Boston and also the Christian Science Church in Manchester, N.H. In 1918, Welch began working for the architectural department of the Elevated, a position he held until his death on May 21, 1930. From the description of Architectural drawings, [ca....
